It's my birfday!
I'm 24 today. I poked fun at J for being 25 (a quarter of a century old) and he says just wait till next year, LOL.
Today we had a party with my in-laws. My father-in-law and his sister were born on New Years' Eve 2 years apart and Pam turned 50. She and her husband also celebrated 25 years together recently. Another of J's aunt also had a birthday recently so Pam thought we were getting together at O'Charley's for a small family birthday party, but her kids had invited any of their friends who were able to come and there was at least a good 40 people there. I didn't expect it to also be a birthday gift exchange for all of us, but I got gifts/ cards from Grandma & Grandpa, my FIL, and 3 aunts/uncles. It was a good time. (Oh -- and the Baked Penne Italiano there is to DIE for!)
I'm using birthday money to buy good tickets to see Casting Crowns in April with J. I wasn't able to go the last time they were in town, so I'm very excited about this. Just today between my FIL and my aunt (in-law), we got enough for one ticket. This concert is going to be AMAZING and I cannot wait!
Two of my friends on STLWed had their babies this past week. Congrats to Lisa on the arrival of Olivia on Monday 1/25 and Kristal on the arrival of Isaac on 1/27! Both moms and babies are doing well. Kristal has been fully up front and honest with us through her whole pregnancy, including her birth story, which I really appreciate. We are waiting till after our 2nd anniversary to even THINK about getting pregnant, but this gal still has babies on the brain -- MAJORLY. On a side note, J and I have been debating about whether or not we will find out the sex of our still not conceived, not even close, still hypothetical child. He says he doesn't want to be surprised, I do. He finally caved. We'll be surprised with our first. He says we'll find out our second, but I think we'll like the surprise so much that we'll do it again. This is, of course, God willing that we get pregnant with our own babies.
On a last note, I HAVE A JOB INTERVIEW IN THE MORNING!!! It's with a preschool in Winghaven for a 2's teacher. It's an interview/working interview, and let me tell you that it's the HARDEST time I've had deciding what to wear. I want to look professional, but at the same time, I'll be down on the floor with toddler, so I don't want to be too nice. Anyway, I'm excited and I really hope that they decide to give me the best birthday present ever!

I've Been a Busy Bee
And I will be for the next week. I'm working a regular sitting job in the morning, my bookstore job at night, this past week I had VBS at church, AND my car broke down. Sheesh. Things will slow down around the 4th, so I"m hoping to give you a substantial post then. I want to post about my trip with the middle schoolers to Penuel and another post about my camp history (as staff, sicne yu've seen my camper post). plus I want to resume Worship Wednesdays. We'll see...
But this post is to say happy birthday to Makenzie and Lily!
My bestest friend had her daughter makenzie 3 years ago yesterday. I went up to see them on my first night off from camp that year and I remember her being sooo tiny! Now she's like, 3 going on 25. Too cute! I went over to see her yesterday before work and when I had to leave, she said clamped onto me and whined, "I want to go with you." Broke my heart! I love her so much.
AND my bestest friend from childhood had her baby yesterday! Baby Lily was 19 3/4 inches long and about 6.5 lb. I cannot be more happy for her and her husband because they had trouble getting a pregnancy to stick. Right now, Lily is in the NICU fighting an infection, so please pray for her!
A woman at my church is due to give birth to her son any day now (scheduled a C-section for Fri. June 26), and if she had her baby yesterday I'm going to laugh so hard. What are the odds??

And Now I'm 23...
My birthday was yesterday, in case nobody knew that. It was a pretty good day, despite it being on Super Bowl Sunday. (By the way, this is the second time my birthday has been the day of the Big Game... the NFL needs to get off my date!) Church in the morning, then Jerometook me to Olive Garden for lunch. We spent some time at home and then I went to my dad's girlfriend's house to watch the Super Bowl. I was planning on only watching the commercials (many of which were AMAZING), but the game obviously got my attention. I was also enjoying asking my dad what all the penalties meant 'cause he would pretend to get real mad. hee hee. He was rooting for the Cardnials and while he was disappointed in the results, he was not disappointed that the game was such a good game.
As for the commercials, here are four of my favorites:
For Monster.Com
For Bridgestone.Com
Also for Bridgestone.Com
For Doritos.
Which ones did you like? Let me know in my comments!
I have a job fair this week. I'll be interviewing with 7 local districts. I'm really excited. I've also contacted a bunch of local private/Christian schools to see how their application process works (if they just want my resume, etc. Many of them have said that they aren't sure they're hiring next year but that they would keep my resume on file in case anything opens up. I want a teaching job so badly, even though I'm nervous as heck to get my own class. (Not because I think I'll do badly, just because I've never had my OWN classroom, you know?)
I might be going to Ecuador with our high school youth this summer and I am soooooooo excited! It all depends on how generous people are at our wedding because that will depend on how much debt we pay off, which will influence how much money we can save each week. J is sweet, though. I was telling our youth coordinator that if both of us can't go, neither of us will go 'cause I would feel bad. J basically said that I'm going, even if he has to pack my bags for me, shove me out the door, and change the locks so I don't come back in. Ain't he sweet?

One Year Older, One Sick Fiance.
For those of you who don't know, my birthday was Friday. I am now 22 years old. 22 is boring; nothing special happens. Except that your mom buys you "grown up clothes" (thanks Mom!!) because you don't have that many. She took me to Fashion Bug and got me some really cute tops and a pair of black dress pants.
Unfortunately, while I was out shopping Jerome was coming down with that bug going around. He's running a small fever and is coughy. I bought some meds and a thermometer and came over. I'm sitting on his couch as I type this, my phone by my side in case he needs anything (his roommate works nights, so he would be alone otherwise).
Let's see, what else is new? Not too much. School is going rather well; I'm keeping up with my readings and I'm halfway finished with a short essay due on Tuesday. It should be a good semester.
And, of course I'm super excited about Louisiana. We leave on Feb. 16. J and I and 2 other people might be leaving waaaaaaaay too early on Saturday to make the drive on Saturday because we need to check in on Saturday; otherwise we'll leave on Saturday morning, stay the night somewhere in Louisiana and then heading to Lake Charles on Sunday afternoon, stopping at the Tabasco factory on the way there. I can't wait.
Wendy, my suitemate froom Louisiana, experienced her first snow this weekend. And waht a snow, right?? SHe went sledding with friends and built a snowman with her roommate. She also fell four times. She just needs to learn how to walk on the ice. But she loves the snow. :-)
All for now. Have to finish that essay.
