Life isn't Fair.

Why is it that people who are the shittiest parents in the world become pregnant without wanting to be while 2 people who will be the best parents in the world struggle through miscarriage after miscarriage? Two people who want a baby more than anything? Two people who deserve to have a child because the two of them would love that child and spoil that child. And what about the people around them who have to know what to say to console them? What is there to say when you haven't experienced that amount of pain?
Please pray foor my friend and her husband. I want so badly for them to get pregnant successfully. It's hard to watch them struggle through this. I don't know what to do.

Thanks Everyone!

I want to thank everyone for the gifts (especially the money). You have no idea how much it helps. The money I got from Mom, Grandpa, and Grady helped me pay for my Praxis, a big test I have to pass to student teach. I signed up for 2 test dates in March and April. I need to take it in January, but I'm a few days too late -- there's a $75 emergency fee. :-P. Serves me right for having so many bills to pay, I guess.
Today, tomorrow, and Friday, I'm babysitting a 3 month old named Sophia. She has the biggest blue eyes you could imagine and she is sooooo tiny! They said she weighed 4 pounds at birth. She's not a preemie, just tiny. And she's so smiley! I can only hope my own child will be this nice.

Enchanted, Santa Claus, and interviews

Jerome and I saw Enchanted last night and it was worth every penny. (well, we got in on free passes, but had we paid $7.75 for our tickets it would have been worth the admission.) I am in LOVE with that movie and its soundtrack. Stephen Schwartz, who did the music to Wicked teamed up with Alan Menken to do it (they also teamed for The Little Mermaid). AMAZING. FANTASTIC. ANd every other word you can think of that mean "great." It's not your typical Disney princess movie (obviously), and there's humor in it for everyone to enjoy. PLUS, Idina Menzel is in it (even though not a whole lot) which right there makes it awesome (too bad she doesn't sing...)

I just finished reading The Autobiography of Santa Claus by Jeff Guinn. It was FANTASTIC. It was simply written and he took every aspect of the St. Nick/Father CHristmas/Santa Claus myths and explained where they came from. Whether it's completely true or not I'm not sure, but it was definitely wonderful story.

I had my interview with Brooke for the summer today. She's so awesome, really interested in hearing our ideas about how to make camp better not only for the girls but for the staff as well. I lost it a little when she asked me what advice I would give new staff members; I said make the girls feel at home and like they are loved and more than welcome because that is what really drew me in 15 (!!!) years ago. Camp has been kind to me and really helped me grow into who I am today and I'm sad that that chapter of my life is coming to a close. But I'm pretty much guaranteed to get my position (duh, who else would they hire?).

This weekend is a busy one... Sitting tomorrow, rehearsal Sat. morning, camp sleepover on Saturday, and performance on Sunday. Not to mention Christmas Eve/Day next week. Merry Christmas!!<

Doesn't this just say it all?

Christmas has lost its meaning to many people. It's now just an excuse to go into debt to buy gifts that people don't really need. Christmas decorations are up at the malls the day after Thanksgiving for crying out loud! I mean, I understand that stores want to make a profit at Christmas time, but it's at the point where it's ridiculous. Here's a political cartoon I found at cagle.com that I think sums it all up.

The most important thing about Christmas isn't the lights or the food or the presents. It's the birth of Jesus, the Son sent from Heaven to redeem us. What went wrong?

The Fox, Reception Halls, and New Apartments

We went to Wicked on Thursday. I heart the Fox. It's absolutely beautiful inside and it seems like there isn't a bad seat in the house. We were up in the balcony for Wicked. I can't believe how amazing this show is. The music, the costumes, the sets. AMAZING!!! I wished I could see it between the last time I saw it and this tme, but I'm kind of glad I didn't because it was like I was seeing it again for the first time. It deserves all the hype it's been given because it is FANTASTIC.

Yesterday was a LOOOOOOOOOONG day. But it was a good long day. It started at 10 with visits to reception venues: The Christy, Lake St. Louis, Stegton Regency, and Heart of St. CHarles Banquet Centers. I think that our consensus is with Lake St. Louis. Jan, the woman who owns it, was super nice, and she really cares about the parties she puts on. SHe spends all day cooking and then tends the bar during the reception. And she said she doesn't order from SYSCO or anything, so her food is prepared fresh. SHe and Jerome and I spent almost an hour just talking about various receptions she's done and her own kids who used the facility. It's family-owned, which also really appeals to me (plus it's in our price range). We'll make our final decision in about 6 weeks, once we have a good idea of what our budget is ('cause we'll be out of credit card debt). plus we're still considering renting a hall and having it catered.

After we looked at all those places, it was back ot Jerome's house to pack his stuff 'cause it was MOVING DAY!!! That's right, Jerome and David moved into their apartment last night. It was kind of tiring because the building faces a courtyard and not the parking lot so it was quite a trek, but we got everything moved in by about 11:00. We made a midnight run to Walmart for things like bowls, silverware, milk, and cereal so that they would have something to eat in the morning. When we left Walmart it was already snowing, so I stayed at the apartment instead of going home.

I forgot to bring my camera so I don't have pictures of my own, but Pam (David's mom) was taking lots of pictures; when she gets them developed I will upload them here.

$1,000,000 in pennies...

This is amazing. An organization called Common Cents organized a "penny harvest" and raised $1,000,000. IN PENNIES. They are exhibited in Rockfeller Center until the end of the year. For the story on Yahoo! News, go here.

He got an apartment!

Yay! Jerome signed the lease on his apartment with David this afternoon. They will move in this weekend. I'm soooo happy that he's getting out of his house, and at such a good deal. He's getting a $740/mo apartment for $595. Money will be tight for a while for him, but I think that this "jolt" of reality is what he needs to really get serious aboout his finances... Plus, his lease is 14 months and we're getting married in 15 months, and his best friend lives in the same subdivision. I plan on posting pictures soon, but I won't get to see the apartment until this weekend.

We're meeting with a few reception halls on Friday. I'm excited. This means that we're ACTUALLY planning. And I'm meeting with a photographer on Jan. 12 (they are based out of KS and are out here for weddings and bridal shows) who is offering me one heck of a deal on photography. $995 for their $1800 package which includes 2 photogs, high-res CD, and copyright release, which are my 3 biggest things. I'm sending out "Will you be my bridesmaids" cards w/ my Christmas cards. It finally feels real. (Not that it ahsn't been real for the last 8 months, but you know what I mean).

I'm finished with school on Thursday. I have my mythology final tomorrow (Tues.) and my History and Philosophy of Education on Thursday. Then Thursday night I'm going to see Wicked!!! I heart that musical. The sets, the costumes, the music... Magical.

Hopefully i will have time to sit down and edit the layout of this bloog with pictures and stuff. Maybe soon...

Welcome

I don't know how many times I've attempted this blog thing. Two or three times at this point, I think. I just don't really think that my life is THAT interesting. But I check my friend's blog all the time for an update on her life, so I guess that will be the purpose of this.

So, please excuse my rantings and my ravings, and enjoy the occassional (hopefully every few days) update on what's going on in my life: wedding plans, school, work, and church stuff. I may be boring sometimes, but that's me. And you know you love me!
