Slimmin' on Down

It's been slow going, but I officially weigh 10 pounds less than I did at the beginning of the year, which puts me well on track to lose 30 pounds this year.

It got a little unsure there for a while -- I think I've only been to the gym five times this month (used to be three times a week) because I got so busy. I was still paying attention to what I ate, though, and while my weight went up about a pound a few weeks ago, I lost 2 pounds overt the last two weeks.

My best friend is getting married in 7 months and we went to try on bridesmaid dresses recently and I realized 2 things: 1) I'm excited about the weight I'm losing and 2)I really miss my swimmer arms. So while my goal is still to lose 30 pounds, I'm also focusing on getting those arms back. =)

And because I like cute videos, check out this video of a cute baby who is part scared/part amused by his mom blowing her nose:

Ever wonder what my church band sounds like?

Well, now you get the chance! Our pianist this morning has coworkers who don't believe that she plays piano, so she recorded our music at our 10:30 service. (Or, rather, Blake recorded it on her camera!)

Here they are, in case you want to kill about 20 minutes. We're not too bad, if I do say so myself, and you'll get to hear me sing a small solo. ;-)

Prelude:

(It Is You by the newsboys and God With Us by MercyMe)
[Diana on keys, Charles on guitar, Brad on drums, and me on bass guitar]

Opening/Call to Worship:

(Song of Love by Rebecca St. James)
[same instrumentals as above, plus Kathy, Rich, Kelsie, and me on vocals]

First Set:

(Arise by Paul Baloche, Jesus Messiah by Chris Tomlin, and Isn't He by I don't remember)
[I've got the first verse of Jesus Messiah, around 3:12]

Second Set:

(You are My All in All by I don't remember)

Closing:

(Jesus Messiah, then instruments on God With Us (1:37), then we fool around a little and play Heart and Soul(3:12))

It's Been a Long Time

Since I last posted, but I will tomorrow hen I have more time to sit and contemplate what you all might be interested in knowing.

For now, enjoy this clip of Kris Allen, the new American Idol, singing one of my FAVORITE songs "God of This City" written by Bluetree and made immensely popular by Chris Tomlin.

I'm so Proud of My Kids

I haven't worked with either youth group this semester because of student teaching, so I didn't get to see any of this come about, but check this out:

They pulled this together and performed it this past weekend. They got their inspiration from this video:

Message Board

Most of you know that I'm on a local wedding board here in St. Louis. I love it and all of the girls on it.

Well, there are alwayss those posts after the wedding is over that are like, "What am I going to do now?" This woman dramatizes what those on HER board said. It's way too funny. Thanks to Trisha for digging this up!!

What is Your Cardboard Testimony?

Was shown this video by my fellow high school youth leaders and I felt the urge to share it with you (whomever "you" are). It is a video from a sermon from Hillside Church. I don't know here Hillside is, or what the sermon was about, but it's emotional.

Remember that whoever you are now, wherever you've been, whatever you've done, God never fails to forgive. He can turn your life around.

My card would read "In abusive relationship for three years." "With God's help, I'm working through those issues and getting married to an amazing guy."

What would yours read? I'd love to know... leave a comment.

What College Kids do on Snow Days...

My roommate, suitemate, and I were surfing around YouTube today and found some videos I would like to share:

1. The First Semester of Spanish Spanish Love Song:

2. The second is a random video about llamas who got scared out of their resting shed when about 14 inches of snow fell from off of the roof. I thought it fitting to post considering the blizzard we got today:

3. And, of course, one of my favorites EVER, the Snoopy video from www.thebunnyshed.co.uk:
