I woke up yesterday for church and there was snow on my car. Argh. Like, it's almost April, for crying out loud!! I went to start my car so it could warm up, not realizing that my wipers were still on from the rain (that turned into snow) the night before and I got all of the snow on my windshield in my car. :-P Stupid snow.
Anyway, I haven't posted in a while because I've been distracted with work and with other stuff that isn't this blog. LOL. But I'm posting now, right?
Let me quickly say that our honeymoon was freaking awesome. The B&B we booked we just as romantic as it looked online and the owners were so sweet! We spent two whole days down there and had a blast. We didn't see any shows, but we did go to the World's Biggest Toy Museum (and got let in for kids' price 'casue it was our honeymoon :-)) and the Dinosaur Museum, as well as played 4 games of mini golf (we tied... we need to play a game up here to break the tie). We spent entirely too much money, but it's all good 'cause God has provided. We also went to Table Rock Lake State park and jsut sat on a bench for a while. The weather cooperated nicely down there and it wass int he 80s all 3 days.
I worked a lot last week. Tammy (the Boss) knew I needed the hours after not working for 2 weeks due to the wedding and one of the other ladies was out of town most of the week, so I pulled in almost 19 hours last week, and about 15 hours this week. That equals one sweet pay check which equals one happy married couple. I really enjoy working at FCS. I get to meet a lot of interesting people and I love the people I work with. Don't get me wrong, my heart lies in teaching and I NEED A TEACHING JOB but this will do for the interim.
Jerome applied for a supervisor position at work. This would equal an extra $6000 a year. please pray that he gets it because we really need it right now. We need to pay down our debt so that he can go back to school, we can get him a new car, and (eventually) start a family. And pray for my job search, too, while you're at it. I should probably be getting calls one way or the other by the end of April because contracts will all be due back to Central Offices and districts will know how many teachers they can hire.
We've gotten a most of our wedding gifts unpacked and hanging on the walls (where applicable) and I have got to say that our guest room is currently my favorite. A few years ago, my mom gave me a beautiful bedspread that's a deep red (almost brown) and dark green and gold. We have that on the bed, paired with some artwork we registered for at BB&B in the same colors. Plus, that room gets the best sunlight in the house, so it's always bright in there. Paulie likes to lay on the bed in there in the sun.
Speaking of decorating, we have a coffee table given to us by my dad's girlfriend that I really like and wold love to put in our living room. However, it's a light wood stained and everrything in the living room (which it doesn't match) is dark wood. I really want to sand it down and restain it. And I will, eventually. A lot of our furniture is on loan from my best friend who had to move in with her mother when we graduated in December; this means we won't have a lot of it forever. She's hoping to have her own place by the fall. (All the more reason to pay down our debt so we can buy furniture of our own...) The coffee table we're currently using is hers, so that is one reason i'm so interested in staining the other one. I'll post pics and let you know how it went when I finally get around to it.
Next week is Holy Week which means I'll be crazy busy. Sunday is Palm Sunday, Monday I have Easter choir rehearsal, Thursday is Maundy Thursday (the night of the last supper/on which Jesus was betrayed), Saturday is our Family Fun Festival (FREE) plus rehearsals for Easter, and Sunday is Easter. I love Holy Week, though, because of how busy I am. And because the MT service is always moving, the FFF is so much fun, and Easter is always amazing, too. Last year I sang My Redeemer Lives by Nicole C. Mullen. It's a poswerful song and it took a lot out of me (I didn't sing anything else, which is weird for me 'cause I always sing with the band during worship).
Have a great week everyone!!

Reception
First, I want to apologize real quick for my page's appearance the last few days. I cancelled my web hosting service where my layout images were hosted, so you got the pretty error message for the last day or two. oops! I've fixed it, though (obviously).
We had the hall booked till 10 and from abotu 7:30 till then, the dance floor was hoppin'! I had a lot of old friends and a lot of really good camp friends there and it was so much fun to let loose on the dance floor. I can't dance for anything, but I was the bride, so it was okay that I SUCKED. Ha ha.
J's little cousin Summer who's about 6 said at one point that she didn't know how to dance, and I told her to just let loose and do it, LOL. She was all over me all night (little girls like brides, I was reminded). I only feel bad that the other kids her age (J's other cousins on his dad's side) left so early; and my brother took my niece and nephew home right after the ceremony for a nap and didn't bring them back. :-(
Anyway, our special dances were incredibly sweet and I loved dancing with my dad. My stepdad and I had chosen a special song of our own, not to be announced as a special dance, but just something for us to partake in. Well, the DJ ended up announcing it and I'm actually really glad that he did because it was nice having that special moment with him; he's been jsut as instrumental in my upbringing as my dad has been, and it was nice to share that moment.
At some point in the evening, our bridal party wen out and went a little crazy with the glass chalk on my car. I had the requisite "Just Married" and some "Congrats" on each side of the car. They also painted on my hood and trunk, though, which I found really funny at first, but now that the time has come for it to come off, I'm incredibly annoyed at it, LOL. It's really hard to get off.
My mom sprung for a hotel room for us that night and it was lovely. It was nice ot go somewhere by ourselves that night and reflect on the day.
Overall, that whole day is a day that I will never ever forget. (Which is how it should be, right?) Everything went smoothly and there were few glitches (and even the few that we had, I was able to get over real quick), but it was amazing.
Oh, and if you'd like to see pictures, I have them up on Flicker.

The Amazing Day Part Two
OK, so... pictures and ceremony, right? That's what I've promised you?
Well, we went to Main Street for photos and mostly did them at the gazebo. There was an ice cream shop around the corner and a few guys disappeared for a while and came back with ice cream cones and water for us all.
After Main Street, we met my brother and future sister-in-law (they're marrying in August) at the Rec Plex park for some family shots with the flower girl and ring bearer. Those turned out so precious it's not even funny. My niece was a princess and my nephew was lookin' so sharp in his tux. It took a minute for them to get into the whole picture thing, but the did eventually and as a result my photographer got a lot of adorable photos:
Then it was back to the church for the posed family shots and then the ceremony. We got pretty much all of the family shots finished before the wedding started, which was nice, because then our guests weren't kept waiting too long at the reception hall for us to arrive.
My bridesmaids and I hid in the back where our Sunday School classrooms are and my maid of honor steamed the wrinkles out of my dress from where my bustle had been in all afternoon. This is when I started to get a little jittery -- but more for excitement than for nervousness. I kept peeking through the doors to see if anyone had started going yet and my maid of honor kept saying, "go away!" ha ha. I'm sure everyone was beautiful as they walked down the aisle; I'll have to watch the video our friend took for us to know for sure. I was able to see the flower girl and ring bearer go down, though, which was cute because my niece would take a small amount of flowers and watch them fall to the floor, then step OVER them to proceed down the aisle. Too cute!
When it was my turn, my stomach did one last somersault and then away we went. It was wonderful walking down the aisle and seeing him waiting at the end of the aisle for me. I got down there and I could see that he was emotional -- there's even a picture of him on our disc with a tear on his cheek. So sweet!
Our pastors gave an awesome ceremony; they personalized it for us, included details about the two of us and our relationship and I really love that they did that. Our unity ceremony was a sand ceremony which was amazing. Our friend Ryan sang for us (and those of you who are wondering... it was "This Day" by Jadon Lavik) and it was so special! I loved our ceremony. It was amazing and personal and everything I had always envisioned in my head.
Next post: reception. THAT WAS TOO FUN!!!

The Amazing Day Part One
Some of you might notice the time stamp on this entry. Yes, I am up in the middle of the night writing this post. For whatever reason, I woke at 2:30 and haven't been able to completely fall back asleep. And since I wanted to write about my wedding day without waking the new hubby, I figured why not do it while he's asleep...? ('Cause he gripes when I spend too much time online. Go figure. ;-))
Anyway, a friend of mine blogged about her wedding day in chunks so as not to overwhelm people, so if Amanda doesn't mind that I steal her idea, I'm going to.
Friday night was our rehearsal. J's mom agreed to make the food and serve it, which made me happy that it was cheap, but also a little disappointed because she wasn't able to participate in the rehearsal itself. The rehearsal was longer than I had anticipated and my grandparents had to wait around a little longer than I would have liked, but it's my fault for assuming that it would be shorter than it was.
The best moment of my life (up to that point) was when I surprised J with a song. For those of you who don't know, I have a beautiful voice (I know, humble thyself and everything, but I'm pretty good). J wanted a song by Warren Barfield sung at the wedding called "Love is Not a Fight" but I didn't think it was "wedding-y" enough, so I had my mom include it in our slideshow. Little did HE know that I had asked my brother in the Marines to learn how to play it on the guitar. J and I were sitting together on the side enjoying the show when Will started the first few chords and he said, "Oh, you're having Will sing it?" And then I stood up and started singing. I made the mistake of looking at him and I saw him tearing up, which made me tear up and so the whole first verse was kind fo garbled. I couldn't look at him the rest of the song, which was unfortunate because I really wanted to. But seeing him tear up like that... The only other time I'd seen him cry in four years was at his cousin's funeral last March, and to know that my song touched him that much? Priceless.
The rest of the evening was pretty uneventful: your typical rehearsal dinner. We ate. We laughed. My bridesmaids teased me that it wasn't too late to turn back...
On Saturday, I woke up at 6:15 in the morning because someone had decided to set their phone to chime announcing that it was wedding say. (Me... oops...) I was too wound up to fall back asleep so I gave up and went downstairs to wake J. (Yes we saw each other that morning... He gave up is bed so that me and 4 of the 5 bridesmaids could stay in the same place and carpool to the salon. We headed out for breakfast and cat food (my maid of honor is taking care of Paulie while we're on our honeymoon), then woke everyone up. My plan was to leave around 8, even though getting on the road at 8:10 would have given up plenty of time for our 8:30 appointments. My evil plan succeeded and we were on our way at ten past. Hee hee. On the way, my bridesmaid who was following us to the salon called and told us to turn on a local station so we did and it was playing Wannabe by the Spice Girls, which for my crew was a huge band of our childhood.
At the salon, my stylist did an AMAZING job. I don't have any pictures yet, but I will post them as soon as I do. I never did a trial run, which I know a lot of people are now thinking, "is she NUTS?!" No, I'm not nuts, I was ona strict budget and I trust my stylist, so I told her what I was envisioning and let her at it. Each of my girls got a different style because I wanted them to feel comfortable throughout the day.
I was incredibly calm all morning. The stylists and my photographer were all like, "You're getting married today, shouldn't you be freaking out?" And I'll be honest... I was surprising myself. I'm usually a stickler for being on time and while I did stress out for a moment that morning when I went to pick up my brother and it took him a teensy bit longer to get to the car than I would have liked, I was pretty chill most of the morning, even when J's sister said that she had left her jewelry in her car (at J's apartment). Luckily, it's a 40 minute round trip and we weren't meeting with the guys till 11 or so, so I sent her with a van to go and get it.
I guess I could say the reason I was so calm was because of the two-year long engagement, but in reality, I have to chalk it up to two things: 1. I love my husband. And I was so ready to commit to him that nothing could have soured that experience. And 2. It's a God thing. Those who know me know about the time thing (I HATE HATE HATE being late), and I know that I hada lot of people praying for a good day for me -- sanity wise and in all other areas.
J and I decided to do pictures before the wedding because as a guest I hate having to wait at the reception hall while the bridal party does pictures. We were planning on going to the Arch because that's where he proposed but on Friday I found out about the city's St. Patrick's Day Parade going on and we nixed that idea. It's all good, though, because we ended up leaving the church almost an hour later than was anticipated because of various reasons (and remember my time issue? Yeah... I'm REAL glad we didn't go all the way downtown.) Anyway, J and I had a special moment together in the sanctuary before heading out and that was awesome because it helped both of us chill out.
We did pictures down on Main Street. We pretty much too over the pavilion down there (the little one, not the big one on the riverfront) and a lot of people stood by and watched. Our groomsmen were INSANE, and some of my bridesmaids weren't too calm, either... J's cousin kept doing the most outlandish stuff all morning and as a result my photographer has some amazing shots. SHe said it was one of the funnest weddings she's shot. Here are a few, from my amazing photographer Kelly Adler:
Pictures were awesome... But my battery on the lap top is dying so I'll have to continue with that and the ceremony later. Lots of love!!

Drooling over this Bathroom Set...
We have a space underneath our bathroom counter that would be perfect for a set of storage drawers but the usual Sterilite drawers are too wide. I know that they sell skinny drawers but I haven't been able to find them. Well, my dad's girlfriend found these at World Market and I am in love with them:
Problem: they're $69.99 (on sale currently for $59.99). And while I love them, I'm not sure I love them $60 worth. But they have a whole matching set. Gorgeous:
That's a hamper for $99.99 (!!) and a basket that would look gorgeous on the over-the-toilet storage thing we have for $22.99. All waaaaay more than I want to pay. Anyone know where I can find anything similar for a whole lot cheaper?
And since I'm on a picture posting spree, I'll share a picture of our cat Paulie. Many of you have seen these pictures because I posted them on the board and on Facebook, but I wanted to share anyways...
He's a big cat, as you can see by the third picture. We've had our windows open the last day or two becuase of the nice weather and he only fits on the window sill when it's all the way open; otherwise, he falls off. Silly boy!!
What are your thoughts on the Wildcards in AI?? I'm suprised they decided to make it 13 and not 12, and I kind of feel they did it to let Megan or Jasmine in in addition to Matt and Anoop... My DVR didn't catch the very end of the episode, so if you missed it, catch it here.
My bachelorette party is tonight and I am hella excited!! I can't believe I get married next weekend!

American Idol and Wedding
those seem to be the top two things I'm thinking about recently, LOL.
First, American Idol: WTF?? Tatiana in the wildcard???!!! I mean, I saw it coming, but to choose her (or Jessie for that matter) over Felicia is idiocy; Felicia was AMAZING last night that sucks. Mostly, I agree wth the rest of the wildcards. Well, except for Von. For real... they should get rid of Tatiana and Von and add Felicia and Mishavonna.
Anyway, on to the most important thing of this post: I'm getting married. In TEN days. Like, in less than an hour from when I publish this post, I will be in the SINGLE DIGITS. Holy smokes! I can't believe how quickly this went by. A friend asked me how I liked being engaged for so long -- would I recommend it. I say absolutely, especially if you're the kind of person who has to control everything. Having a year to just gather ideas helped take a tremendous amount of stress off of me. It also allowed me and jerome to get to know each other even better than we knew each other 2 years ago. Now, when I say "I do" next week I KNOW that I mean it, that it is truly what I want. (Not that I didn't KNOW know in March 2007, but you know what I mean...) We've had an opportunity to plan for our marriage as well as our wedding, and I wouldn't trade that for anything.
I'm stalking the 10 day forecasts on weather.com and accuweather.com. Right now it's not too great... upper 40's with a chance of rain or SNOW. Yuck. But it's Missouri, so we'll see.
Oh, and I can't talk about J and I without talking about the new addition to our family. No, I'm not pregnant. We adopted a cat last weekend. A friend of a friend had a kitty that she needed to find a new home for and we just happened to be in the market for a cat (esp. a free one!) Thus, Paulie. I have no pics yet, at least no decent ones, but he's a light orange (almost tan) and a big kitty. He's hilarious; he played with this wind up mouse we bought him for HOURS. And the best part is that I haven't had a reaction to him. (I'm allergic to some cats and we were worried that any cat would flare 'em up real bad.) He's precious and he warmed up to us real quick. I will post pictures as soon as I can.
I imagine I'll post at least a few more times before I become a wife; stay tuned!

American Idol Thoughts
I just finished AI tonight and I'm off to bed...
My call for the top three this week:
Lil Rounds
Jorge Nunez
Felicia Barton
Although Scott McIntyre was awesome and Kendall Beard might pull it out with the country love.
Who woudl I like to see in the Wildcard on Thursday? Any of the above (except Kendall) who doesn't make it through tonight, plus Anoop, Mishavonna, Jasmine, and (though I hate to say it 'cause I HATE he personality) Tatiana.
Thoughts?
