I'm looking for another job. Preferably in a school district's early childhood center, but most likely just at another preschool. My asst. director and I don't see eye to eye on a LOT of issues. She's way too concerned about having parents happy, and often times flat out hides things from them. She doesn't treat her staff nicely, either. There are a lot of stories I could tell to gripe and complain, but I'm not going to in this forum because they just aren't nice things.
What breaks my heart is the idea of leaving the kids behind. I have grown to love all of them -- even the ones who drive me cuh-razy somtimes. Their smiles and hugs and the things that they say all make me laugh a lot during the day. But I need to leave in order to regain some kind of sanity in my life.
Don't worry, I will find something before I quit. That's the first thing a friend said to me and while I appreciate the concern, I am thinking about these things. I actually applied for a job as a library assistant at a local school district that pays pretty well and I'm well qualified for it. And it would be a nice foot int he door, as the say. Hopefully it works out.
Lots of prayers are appreciated!! Hopefully I find something quickly so that I can quit stressing.

Sooo Tired
Anyone ever worked in a room of two-year-olds? Yeah, it's EXHAUSTING. I mean, I'm used to running around after kids so that wasn't the shocker. I can do dirty diapers, I can do tantrums, etc. But multiply that by 13 and I'm ready for bed (and if you look at the time stamp on this entry, it's not even 9PM yet!)
So my new job is as a 2's teacher at a preschool in O'Fallon. They had combined all their two-year-olds into one class when enrollment dropped, but that meant you had kids who were one yesterday all the way up to kids who would be three tomorrow. That kind of an age gap. And if you have ever had kids, worked with kids, or remember BEING a kid, you know what kid of a difference that is mentally, socially, physically, and emotionally. So they're splitting 'em back up, which means they needed another teacher. Which is where I come in.
The ad I responded to on Craigslist called for someone with good parent communication skills (check!), able to create and execute lesson plans (check!), is flexible (check!), and organized (super big CHECK!). We corresponded all weekend and she asked if I could come in on Monday morning for an interview and a working interview. I mentioned it was my birthday and I had plans but would rearrange if needed but she said she needed the position killed ASAP. I think it worked to my advantage because she said, "Sorry you had to come in on your birthday." I was like, "It's all good... the way I look at it, if I get the job it'll be like the best birthday present ever."
Obviously I got it. And I'm ecstatic. We will actually have money. That lasts longer than two days! Oh, and I get paid on opposite weeks as J, which means we will actually have money coming in every week. How awesome is that???

It's my birfday!
I'm 24 today. I poked fun at J for being 25 (a quarter of a century old) and he says just wait till next year, LOL.
Today we had a party with my in-laws. My father-in-law and his sister were born on New Years' Eve 2 years apart and Pam turned 50. She and her husband also celebrated 25 years together recently. Another of J's aunt also had a birthday recently so Pam thought we were getting together at O'Charley's for a small family birthday party, but her kids had invited any of their friends who were able to come and there was at least a good 40 people there. I didn't expect it to also be a birthday gift exchange for all of us, but I got gifts/ cards from Grandma & Grandpa, my FIL, and 3 aunts/uncles. It was a good time. (Oh -- and the Baked Penne Italiano there is to DIE for!)
I'm using birthday money to buy good tickets to see Casting Crowns in April with J. I wasn't able to go the last time they were in town, so I'm very excited about this. Just today between my FIL and my aunt (in-law), we got enough for one ticket. This concert is going to be AMAZING and I cannot wait!
Two of my friends on STLWed had their babies this past week. Congrats to Lisa on the arrival of Olivia on Monday 1/25 and Kristal on the arrival of Isaac on 1/27! Both moms and babies are doing well. Kristal has been fully up front and honest with us through her whole pregnancy, including her birth story, which I really appreciate. We are waiting till after our 2nd anniversary to even THINK about getting pregnant, but this gal still has babies on the brain -- MAJORLY. On a side note, J and I have been debating about whether or not we will find out the sex of our still not conceived, not even close, still hypothetical child. He says he doesn't want to be surprised, I do. He finally caved. We'll be surprised with our first. He says we'll find out our second, but I think we'll like the surprise so much that we'll do it again. This is, of course, God willing that we get pregnant with our own babies.
On a last note, I HAVE A JOB INTERVIEW IN THE MORNING!!! It's with a preschool in Winghaven for a 2's teacher. It's an interview/working interview, and let me tell you that it's the HARDEST time I've had deciding what to wear. I want to look professional, but at the same time, I'll be down on the floor with toddler, so I don't want to be too nice. Anyway, I'm excited and I really hope that they decide to give me the best birthday present ever!

Holding My Head Up
Sorry about that last post. I have been having anxiety attacks and crying a lot the last couple of days, just because I'm freaking out about money. I'm beyond frustrated, but J and I are trying to make the best of it.
1. Our lease is up next month, so we're moving. We have a few options to choose from, one depends greatly on negotiating rent. Another involves buying a single-wide trailer from my brother... Meh. So many decisions.
2. We're changing car insurance companies. We're paying $60/mo. with Geico. I got a quote from progressive for the exact same coverage for $26. This is a no brainer.
3. We're probably completely getting rid of our cable. We'll keep our internet and watch shows online. The only show this is going to be a problem with me is American Idol because I don't think it's available online...
4. I'm expecting about $1200 back on our tax return and we're trying to decide which is more responsible: paying off $1200 in debt, using it as a down payment on a $2000/$3000 car, or a mixture of both. Any advice?
5. I'm asking for deferment on my student loan. In all reality, my loan payments are only $50/month, but I'm not working in my field, and I work less than full time, so I qualify for deferment, and that $50/mo will go very far.
I know there's a job out there for me. In the meantime, I'm subbing and sitting as much as possible and applying for all the jobs I can find.

Depressed.
I didn't get the job.
I feel really burnt out on this whole job hunt thing.
I would be a kickass teacher.
Why doesn't anybody see that??

Lots of Snow
If you don't live in the area, you may not be aware that we got a good 3+ inches of snow over the last few days. Most of the districts are on their second snow day today, and our back deck has about 6 inches on it because the wind blew it all from the strip of grass between it and the street. My niece and nephew tried to make a snow man yesterday, but "it broke" because it's not packing snow. By the way, it's currently 9*, with a wind chill of -11*. SOOOOO COLD!!
Want an update on the cats? They're pretty much acclimated to each other. We've had the two out with each other nonstop for the last week and they get along pretty well. Occasionally, they'll have a big tiff, but for the most part they chase each other, and then just ignore each other. Although, I occasionally have gotten photos that look like this:

Right now they're both relaxing in the EXACT same position, Sebs in the living room and Paulie in the kitchen. They crack me up. I'm so glad Paulie has a play mate now, even if it did take a while for Sebs to warm up to him.
Many of you know this because of Facebook, but I have an interview today. I feel really really good about it but I don't want to get my hopes up because I really will be crushed if I don't get it. But think of me around 12:30!

This is Not Forever
One of my favorite bands is BarlowGirl, and I'm so excited that they have a new CD coming out in September called Love and War. Septemberr 22 is the release date so you should mark your calendars.
They've posted two acoustic sessions with 2 of the new songs. One is called "Beautiful Ending" which is really pretty, but the one which struck a chord with me is "This is Not Forever." In the video, which I have posted below, Alyssa talks about how she is always praying that God will pull her OUT of hard times, and she had the realization the day she wrote the song that God doesn't want to pull her out. He wants to pull her THROUGH the hard times, so that she'll learn and grow and trust in Him more.
This one hit home for me because, as you all know, I have been looking for fall employment. I haven't had any calls for interviews except one, which I'm actually waiting as I type this to hear back about. J and I have been pinching pennies and getting frustrated because every time we seem to be getting somewhere, something sets us back. (Such is life, no?) I've been praying so hard about finding a job and this message is exactly what I needed to hear right now -- that God will stay with me through everything, no matter how hard life gets, no matter "how high the steps are." He's with me always and He will always pull me through.

GOOD NEWS!
The job fair on Wednesday wasn't a TOTAL bust... I got a phone call from Pattonville the other day wanting to set up a preliminary interview. !!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, I'm not wanting to put all my eggs in one basket and not get too excited about this. After all, it's only a SCREENING interview. But I have been praying so hard for God to bring me a job at the right time and I've felt like He was ignoring me/not listening (don't wee all feel like that at times?) and I feel like He's waited this long for a reason. What if this IS the job??? I'm actually really excited and already visualizing my classroom and lessons to do to start the year and form a positive learning community. But then I'm like -- HOLD UP. This is NOT a sure thing and I don't want to be disappointed.
But it's something, you know? Maybe this is the beginning of a slew of interviews. It's almost August and I'm freaked that I won't find anything and I'll be stuck working 8 jobs for another year. But you never know what will happen once the school year starts and they, like, realize "Oh crap, we have too many X graders. We need another classroom. Hey, let's call that Jessica girl." LOL. We'll see.

Stupid Snow
I woke up yesterday for church and there was snow on my car. Argh. Like, it's almost April, for crying out loud!! I went to start my car so it could warm up, not realizing that my wipers were still on from the rain (that turned into snow) the night before and I got all of the snow on my windshield in my car. :-P Stupid snow.
Anyway, I haven't posted in a while because I've been distracted with work and with other stuff that isn't this blog. LOL. But I'm posting now, right?
Let me quickly say that our honeymoon was freaking awesome. The B&B we booked we just as romantic as it looked online and the owners were so sweet! We spent two whole days down there and had a blast. We didn't see any shows, but we did go to the World's Biggest Toy Museum (and got let in for kids' price 'casue it was our honeymoon :-)) and the Dinosaur Museum, as well as played 4 games of mini golf (we tied... we need to play a game up here to break the tie). We spent entirely too much money, but it's all good 'cause God has provided. We also went to Table Rock Lake State park and jsut sat on a bench for a while. The weather cooperated nicely down there and it wass int he 80s all 3 days.
I worked a lot last week. Tammy (the Boss) knew I needed the hours after not working for 2 weeks due to the wedding and one of the other ladies was out of town most of the week, so I pulled in almost 19 hours last week, and about 15 hours this week. That equals one sweet pay check which equals one happy married couple. I really enjoy working at FCS. I get to meet a lot of interesting people and I love the people I work with. Don't get me wrong, my heart lies in teaching and I NEED A TEACHING JOB but this will do for the interim.
Jerome applied for a supervisor position at work. This would equal an extra $6000 a year. please pray that he gets it because we really need it right now. We need to pay down our debt so that he can go back to school, we can get him a new car, and (eventually) start a family. And pray for my job search, too, while you're at it. I should probably be getting calls one way or the other by the end of April because contracts will all be due back to Central Offices and districts will know how many teachers they can hire.
We've gotten a most of our wedding gifts unpacked and hanging on the walls (where applicable) and I have got to say that our guest room is currently my favorite. A few years ago, my mom gave me a beautiful bedspread that's a deep red (almost brown) and dark green and gold. We have that on the bed, paired with some artwork we registered for at BB&B in the same colors. Plus, that room gets the best sunlight in the house, so it's always bright in there. Paulie likes to lay on the bed in there in the sun.
Speaking of decorating, we have a coffee table given to us by my dad's girlfriend that I really like and wold love to put in our living room. However, it's a light wood stained and everrything in the living room (which it doesn't match) is dark wood. I really want to sand it down and restain it. And I will, eventually. A lot of our furniture is on loan from my best friend who had to move in with her mother when we graduated in December; this means we won't have a lot of it forever. She's hoping to have her own place by the fall. (All the more reason to pay down our debt so we can buy furniture of our own...) The coffee table we're currently using is hers, so that is one reason i'm so interested in staining the other one. I'll post pics and let you know how it went when I finally get around to it.
Next week is Holy Week which means I'll be crazy busy. Sunday is Palm Sunday, Monday I have Easter choir rehearsal, Thursday is Maundy Thursday (the night of the last supper/on which Jesus was betrayed), Saturday is our Family Fun Festival (FREE) plus rehearsals for Easter, and Sunday is Easter. I love Holy Week, though, because of how busy I am. And because the MT service is always moving, the FFF is so much fun, and Easter is always amazing, too. Last year I sang My Redeemer Lives by Nicole C. Mullen. It's a poswerful song and it took a lot out of me (I didn't sing anything else, which is weird for me 'cause I always sing with the band during worship).
Have a great week everyone!!

One Month. Four Weeks. Twenty-Eight Days.
It's sooooo close! We're hitting the home stretch now; I'm finalizing menus and picking a rehearsal dinner caterer and getting my dress hemmed. I'm counting RSVPs and buying alst minute stuff. In four weeks I will be Mrs. Hall and I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!! (Yes, I did just use 8 exclamation points.) I plan on relishing every minute of my last month as a single woman, but I am excited about the new path I'm about to start on.
What else is there to report? (I need to make sure every entry isn't about my impending nuptials...) I went to that job fair a few weeks ago and interviewed with 5 districts. I had a very successful interview with the FH district; they have year round schooling, which might be weird at first, but a good district and I'm kind of not in a position to pick and choose my district. I've also inquired at a few local private/independent schools and sent my resume to a few. I'm a little worried, thought, because the economic situation has finally caught up with schools and a lot of districts aren't hiring as many people as they usually do/had hoped to. Bummer, right?
I guess I'll close for now. I have church in the morning and I want to post this before my title needs to change. XOXO! Happy Valentine's Day!
